Call me crazy……again

I’ve been doing my best to stay safe. I hope all of you are too. I had a FaceTime doctors appointment with my rheumatologist a few days ago. I’m feeling fairly well. It was just a check up and check in. My MD keeps close tabs on his AOSD peeps during this COviD19 situation. I’m getting my labs drawn today. I have been feeling well, except when become extremely fatigued or become stressed. The chills and fever came on 2 days ago and stayed for 3 days. I slept about 13 hours each night. BUT no rash!! YAY! And now, thankfully, I feel good.
We talked about the COviD disease and I mentioned how eerily and freaky similar AOSD/Stills is to this new Covid disease. He agreed.
I’ve been thinking about this similarity a lot lately. Especially, the cases of the symptoms children are getting from Covid. I can’t help but wonder, is it related to Stills? I wonder if AOSD/Stills is a long lost cousin of COvID?? It just seems so strange how the suffering of the patients is almost identical. The spiking fevers to 103, the chattering teeth, the extreme joint pain, the rash, myocarditis, lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly, hepatic involvement, pleuritis, pleural effusions, pericarditis, cardiac tamponade, the cytokine storm. Call me crazy…… but this all seems very familiar to me due to the symptoms I’ve suffered with.
I would love for us to be part of study to find out more of this awful disease we share and find out if Covid 19 is related…..
I hope you are all feeling well.
Stay healthy friends.

I acquired AOSD in 2008. I have suffered so terribly and have found ways to help me regain my life. This my personal journal of this mystery illness to diagnosis. I hope that I can help others with my experience and information.
It’s not that they are related, it is that the response of our bodies are similar. Our Still’s symptoms are all really symptoms of our innate immune system being strongly turned on. In the case of Still’s, it “turns on” for no real reason; I describe it to people that there’s a “short circuit” in our immune system.
C-19 also strongly “turns on” that immune response. That’s why so many symptoms sound familiar. But in that case, there’s a known reason. For us, it just does it randomly.
Stay strong from a fellow dragon slayer!
Beautiful and uplifting morning doodle. Thank you! Interesting observation of your. I find it interesting about the cytokine storm, which unfortunately we can have with a flare of the dragon and the use of the immunmodulating medication to help fight it. YOu might have something there. There is some on cytokine storm and AOSD but nothering yet on AOSD and COVID. Guess we will stay tuned.
Stay well and safe
